GHOSTBUSTERS (2016) Writer Rebooting HAUNTED MANSION

There has been talk for a long time now that Guillermo del Toro would be writing and producing a reboot of Disney’s The Haunted Mansion. But today we hear that Ghostbusters (2016) writer Katie Dippold is penning the live-action reboot.

For the record, Dippold has also been behind scripts for Parks and Recreation, The Heat, and Snatched. I can only assume this means this new version of Haunted Mansion will feature Melissa McCarthy. But we’ll see…

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich (Aladdin ) are producing the film which will (obviously) ignore everything about director Rob Minkoff’s 2003 version with Eddie Murphy.

All the same, that version told the tale of a workaholic real estate agent played by Murphy who is accused by his wife of neglecting his son and daughter, so he takes the family on a vacation. Along the way, they stop at a sinister mansion he’s been asked to sell, only to discover it’s – you guessed it – haunted.

Here’s the trailer.
