HOST Director’s Next Nightmare Described as “The Conjuring Behind Bars”

Host writer-director Rob Savage and Studiocanal are teaming up for a new fright flick pitched as The Conjuring behind bars. Savage will direct the film and Host writer-executive producer Jed Shepherd is producing. Teresa Sutherland (The Wind) will pen the script which Savage says incorporates elements of Brit folklore.

Savage says: “[It] is a melding of the prison escape movie and the haunted house movie, in which a group of women who stage an unsuccessful breakout attempt discover a secret room that unleashes a dark presence that marauds the halls at night. The film will have a claustrophobic quality akin to The Descent.”

He adds: “None of the characters are conventional good guys. So, there are opportunities for interesting casting choices with actors playing against type.”

The 25-year-old filmmaker and his team aim to shoot the contained horror in 2021.
