I first heard Alice Cooper when I was about 12 years old. I remember the moment to this day. A friend of mine played me his older brother's copy of Welcome To My Nightmare. The song Steven had a profound effect on me - it chilled me and excited me in equal measure; I'd never before heard anything like it. All these years later, I regard Welcome To My Nightmare (The Coop's first solo album) as the pinnacle of a career that has seen many highpoints: the albums with the Alice Cooper band, such as Killer, School's Out and Billion Dollar Babies; concept albums like From The Inside and DaDa; his renaissance in the eighties with Raise Your Fist And Yell, Constrictor and Trash; and then the unbroken run of absolute classics from The Last Temptation right up to Along Came A Spider. Garage rock, vaudeville, heavy metal, cock-rock, glam-rock, shock-rock, social commentary, narrative-based songs and concept albums, and one of the most celebrated stageshows in rock'n'roll...ladies and gentlemen, I give you the one and only Alice Cooper.

I agree on every level of your post.

However, I wasn't a huge fan of the 'concept era' (dada sucks)...o well.

Can't wait for the Gruesome Twosome tour next week!

Hey, we can't agree on everything and it's rare to find fans of any artist who agree about every album. Alice doesn't even remember recording DaDa he was so out of it. I just think Former Lee Warmer is creepy as all hell and I Love America is totally hilarious.
