Yeah. It's great. It's surprising how many of the iconic moments and elements of this movie are in the first 20 minutes. Craven didn't waste any time getting into the shit with this one.

that and the fake out of who the main character is going to be, I wonder if that was intentionally borrowed from Psycho.

the nightmare imagery/transistion starts off so subtle, it's one of the movies strangest points I feel

I never went to a school that used hall passes.... I think they're a myth.

I think, if you go too surreal, you lose the ability to remain scary. It's one of my fears about the new remake.

Indeed, think one of my biggest fears with the remake is trying to recreate so many classic scenes, personally when it comes to remakes I think they should just take the basic plot then do their own thing with it like the Dawn of the Dead remake

I have. Supposedly, if you were caught without a pass in the halls during class, you'd be placed in the tardy room and written up. 3 write ups got you a detention. This was what was supposed to happen, but they could never manage to enforce those rules.

if they just really looked at what made the original good (and/or) popular, it's when those elements are missing that I find remakes fall flat.
