The photo above, from today's entry in Yoshihiro Nishimura's blog, appears to be of the screenplay for his Hell Driver.
Here's some information on Hell Driver from the December 11, 2009 entry in Marc Walkow's Outcast Cinema blog: "HELL DRIVER casting ¶ One of the things TOKYO GORE POLICE director Yoshihiro Nishimura was happy to talk about during his visit to this summer's New York Asian Film Festival was an upcoming project of his about a high school girl who's also a zombie fighter. Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, this is another Nikkatsu / Sushi Typhoon film, due to shoot in the spring for a summer release worldwide (again, expect a lot of festival play). I was lucky enough to sit in on auditions for the leading role of Kika, the girl whose own heart is ripped out by her mother before becoming a world-class zombie-killer (and apparently an undead or cyborg one?)."

I'm glad that she's getting steady work now thanks to Nishimura, though judging from her excellent and iconic work in AUDITION she could probably do better than becoming a J-Troma exclusive. |

An English-subtitled theatrical trailer for Sono's Cold Fish has been added to YouTube.
Here's a synopsis for Cold Fish from the sales flyer for the movie: "Shamoto runs a small tropical fish shop. His second wife, Taeko, does not get along with his daughter, Mitsuko, and this worries him. He also feels somehow unfulfilled and dissatisfied with what his life has become. One day Mitsuko is caught shoplifting at a grocery store. There they meet a friendly man named Murata, who helps to settle things between Mitsuko and the store manager. Since Murata also runs a tropical fish shop, Shamoto establishes a bond with him and they become friends; Mitsuko even begins working for Murata and living at this house, to avoid conflicts with her stepmother. ¶ What Shamoto doesn't know, however, is that Murata hides many dark secrets behind his friendly face. He sells cheap fish to his customers for high prices with his artful lies. If anyone detects his fraud or refuses to go along with his money-making schemes, they're murdered and their bodies disposed of by Murata and his wife in grisly ways. Shamoto is suddenly taken in by Murata's tactics, and by the time he realizes that Murata is insane, and a serial killer who has made over fifty people disappear, he is powerless to do anything about it. But now Mitsuko is a hostage at Murata's home, and Shamoto himself has become the killer's unwilling accomplice. ¶ Meanwhile, the murders, without any trace of the bodies, continue unabated. The police have long suspected Murata and try to get information about him from Shamoto; Murata quickly senses the danger and threatens Shamoto not to report anything to the police. Shamoto has no choice but to obey Murata's order. Cruel murders gradually cripple his mind and finally the ordinary man is driven to the edge of the abyss."

Here's a description of Hell Driver from the production: "An alien-spawned, mysterious mist blankets the northern half of Japan, transforming those who inhale it into ravenous, flesh-eating zombies hell-bent on devouring the surviving human population. Plunged into chaos, Japan is torn in two - the southern half of the country, where the populace remains untouched by the deadly gas, lives behind a heavily-fortified wall, while the northern half is a lawless, zombie-infected wasteland. Political forces are locked in a stalemate over whether the living dead should remain protected as family members or be exterminated like a plague. The economy withers away, and all hope seems lost for the people and the nation of Japan. ¶ Hope arrives in the form of Kika (Yumiko Hara), a beautiful high school girl armed with a chainsaw sword powered by an artificial heart. Recruited by the government, Kika leads a ragtag group of desperados on a secret mission into the zombie-infected wilds to exterminate zombie queen Rikka (Eihi Shiina from Audition and Tokyo Gore Police) and put an end to the plague of the living dead. But the road is fraught with a thriving zombie culture that, with its own designs on the living half of Japan, refuses to lay down and die. ¶ Visionary filmmaker Yoshihiro Nishimura's first solo directorial effort since Tokyo Gore Police is an epic, apocalyptic road movie featuring non-stop action and over-the-top splatter. The long-awaited realization of his dreams, Hell Driver is Nishimura's bid to create the ultimate zombie film. ¶ The showdown for the future of Japan is at hand and no one, living or dead, may survive to see it!"
Those who are interested in Hell Driver may wish to watch the trailer for Yasushi Koshizaka's boobs-and-bolts J-sploitation movie Man Hunting (Man hantingu).
