I was just talking to my old buddies at The Asylum, the makers of such fine mockbuster movies as Transmorphers, The Terminators, and Alien vs Hunter. Sounds like Leigh Scott, director of Transmorphers has moved up in the world and is now making a Wizard of Oz film in New York based on the original book by Frank Baum. Talk is he has a bit of a budget on this one. I've wanted to see what Director Leigh Scott could pull off with some financial backing and creative freedom.

The Asylum is infamous for putting out ridiculous titles shot in 10-15 days... What could these indie filmmakers put out with time and a budget?

Flying monkeys, munchkins, gnomes, a giant monster, witches and the original characters from the Wizard of Oz.... I am excited to see how his rendition of the original story turns out.

Looks like Christopher Lloyd (back to the future) as the Wizard, Billy Boyd (LOTR), Mia Sarah (ferris buler's day off) are all in the film. I also heard a rumor they maybe shooting Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) in this film... ??? I'm interested.

Me too. From what I hear, Leigh is taking this one seriously. It will not be a mockbuster of the original, rather a new spin on the old story.
