The Ruins, by Scott Smith - I enjoyed the movie a lot. So far, the book's solid, but I'm only about 50 pages in. I expect it to get a lot better.

Just finished SPEAKS THE NIGHTBIRD by Robert R. McCammon. Fantastic. I just started THE BIRTHING HOUSE by Christopher Ransom, and I'm about halfway through SECRET HISTORIES by F. Paul Wilson.

| Last thing I read was one of the "Resident Evil" novelizations, mostly while on the can. I have a huge collection of older books, but I no longer seem to read. Unless you count "Les Miserables", which I'm about halfway through after 4 years of intermittent reading. |

The Ruins, by Scott Smith - Intense, queasy, non-stop. This could be a textbook for an ethics class: there are impossible choices for the characters every few pages and it’s hard to argue with the Mayan’s decision that dooms the characters.

Recently started Scott Sigler's "Contagious", the sequel to the pretty great pulp sci-fi/horror "Infected".
Only about 100 pages in, but already loving it. |

The Bus Driver Who Wanted to Be God, by Etgar Keret – A collection of very short, humorous/absurdist short stories. These aren’t quite as compelling as some of the other stories by him that I’ve encountered, but they’re good fun.

Right now 1984, cuz I never read it.
Also, cuz Under The Dome is huge as shit, and I needed to cleanse my horror palate so to speak to get ready for such a huge doorstop of a novel. |

| Just got Alvin Toffler's "Third Wave" and "Power Shift" ... so, I guess I'll be reading one of those, to add to the Jung I'm still sort of leafing through at leisure. I also scored a book on the future of government wire-tapping, dated 1965, but I'm not all too excited about cracking that one open, any time soon. Shit's gotta be dated. |
