Maybe it’s just us, but we haven’t seen a single thing from the next entry in Japan’s once terrifying Ring franchise, Sadako 3D, that has gotten us even slightly excited. It just looks silly, and the silliness continues with this latest PR stunt.

Yesterday evil incarnate herself, Sadako, appeared at Japan’s Tokyo Dome in order to throw out the first pitch. Yes, you read that right.

The flick hits Japanese theatres on May 12th.

Koji Suzuki has penned the script for the flick coming to us from Kadokawa Shoten Company.

Sadako, identified by her long black hair covering her face, has become an iconic character in the Japanese horror genre. Suzuki, the author of the original Ring novel series, indicated that the new 3D film will include a scene of Sadako coming out of a television set, similar to the original.

Synopsis
13 years after the original Ring movie, Sadako returns to the big screen in 3D!

Akane is a high school teacher who hears a rumor from her students that there is actual footage on the Internet of someone’s suicide. The footage is said to drive anyone who sees it to also commit suicide. Akane does not believe the rumor at first, but when one of her female students dies after viewing the footage, she and her boyfriend Takanori are fatefully drawn into the horror that has been created by the man who appears in the suicide footage, Kashiwada.

Kashiwada’s intention is to create chaos in the world by bringing back Sadako and the power of her curse. Now Akane has to fight against Sadako and Kashiwada to save the lives of herself and Takanori.
