Did anyone else every play this extremely hard, extremely ugly game with terrible controls? It came out on PS1, N64, PC and the Dreamcast(which still looked like the PS1 version, just brighter).

Even with all the terrible flaws, the story was awesome, the creatures were creepy and the voice acting was solid for the time...

I played it. They sure made it seem like it was a cool game. I have played worse.

If you get into the story is actually quite interesting.....always thought it could be a cool movie...and the music was surprisingly good. Now the sequel...Jesus...that was bad...

Speaking of bad...Countdown Vampires....the worst Resident Evil rip Off ever made...but it was on a level of bad that made me keep playing, just to see how stupid they could get...

I enjoyed the second Shadow Man game much more than the first, if only for the simple fact that I could actually play the damn thing. The controls in the first were beyond horrendous. At least the second had a competent control scheme.

Never played Countdown Vampires because I never saw it in a store. Anywhere. I'd buy it on EBay, but my wife bought a Wii and I have to get Eternal Darkness first.

I didn't play very much of "Shadow Man" because I thought it was pretty sucky. I do remember that it had the most annoying TV commercial ever. And I had forgotten about "Countdown Vampires" completely until you mentioned it. Is that the game with all the PS1 full-frontal nudity?...it was one of those vampire games.

"Eternal Darkness", however, kicks all kind of ass.

Please, tell me more about countdown vampires...I like stupid games, good for a laugh. As for shadow man, I want it, along with the comic series.

Just a quick rundown of Countdown Vampires...its starts off with main character, a detective working security at a new horror themed casino, walking around in leather pants and no shirt. The opening CG cutscene is promising as all hell break loose....then the voice acting starts and your char sounds like Richard Simmons.....and your told you turn the vampire back into humans by splashing white water on them....WHAT? From there it gets better.....trust me, its like watching a great B-movie that you get to control.

I just bought Shadow Man for PS1 on ebay for like 4 dollars shipping and all....can't wait.

Shadowman on PS1 was crap.
But....Shadowman on N64, with the extra memory cart plugged in, was AWESOME.
It was a seriously cool game with lots of cool villains, two of them being Jack the Ripper and Legion.
The Asylum in the Dark World was seriously twisted and fucked up. There was a really creepy section of the Asylum that had a childrens playroom with toys and blocks and this twisted kiddy music playing while creatures attacked you. Every single part of the Asylum was scary to me.
The maps for the Dark World were immense and confusing, my game didn't come with the map.
I played through this game twice and beat it twice.
I own the sequel, but haven't played it yet.
But Shadowman on N64 is a game I will never forget.
There was also a part in the Day World where you are inside a prison during a riot and you have to take down a serial killer that was really cool too.
I need to play this again soon.

Thoroughly enjoyed it when it came out. It was set around the turn of the millennium wasn't it, so if you played it when it came out there was a sense of playing in the here and now...kind of!

Great story and atmosphere. And yes, The Playrooms were very unsettling.

It was more Barker than Romero, which was nice for a change. And Mike LeRoi was a cool character.

I dusted it off recently - I had the N64 version - but it hasn't aged too well. Better to keep it as a warm, fuzzy memory I think.
