Trailer: THE HOWLING WIND Harkens Classic Horror of the ’50s and ’60s

The Howling Wind is a film ripped straight from a 1960s radio drama or television screen, with eerie relevancy to the current state of the world, that explores what good people can turn into when their survival is at stake — In the eyes of an outside threat, the real terror comes from within.

Synopsis:
In the middle of a befouled dust and wind storm ravaging a small rural town, Arnold Cunningham, a gruff hermit living alone in the countryside, discovers a young barkeep seeking refuge in his cellar. At the advice of the town’s local radio station alerting listeners to beware those caught in the devastation, Arnold is initially defensive at having encountered a stranger in such close proximity, however, Arnold eventually deduces that the young man, Jacob Thompson, poses no threat and takes him to weather the storm. But will Arnold’s assessment of Jacob and his offering up of his home as a safe zone, prove to be a fatal mistake? These two men are now in the domain of The Howling Wind

The Howling Wind is written by Justin Knoepfel, directed by Lorian Gish and Knoepfel, and stars Anthony Arkin (Succession, The Americans), Nicky Boulos (God Friended Me), Mark Silverman (The Twilight Zone, 2019).

Conceived as a tale harkening to classic horror/thriller cinema of the 50s and 60s, and shot in early 2020, The Howling Wind bares a prescient similarity to the current global crisis posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the story ponders whether “fear of the unknown” or “fear of each other” is more harmful. Directors Lorian Gish and Justin Knoepfel are inspired by stories that test characters and their decisions, and though The Howling Wind harkens back to an era of cinema’s past, its themes are universal.
