THE FREAK BROTHERS First Mini-Episode Includes Zombie Colonel Sanders

For a hefty dose of madcap irreverence, give the first of four “mini-episodes” for the upcoming adult animated series The Freak Brothers a spin at the top of the article. Please note: It’s not for the kiddies!

Deadline announced the new series earlier this week:

Woody Harrelson, John Goodman, Tiffany Haddish and Pete Davidson lead the upcoming adult toon series from EPs Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon based on the hippie-era underground comic.

The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers is an underground comic about a fictional trio of stoner characters, created by the American artist Gilbert Shelton. The Freak Brothers first appeared in The Rag, an underground newspaper published in Austin, Texas, beginning in May 1968, and were regularly reprinted in underground papers around the United States and in other parts of the world. Later their adventures were published in a series of comic books. The lives of the Freak Brothers revolve around the procurement and enjoyment of recreational drugs, particularly marijuana. The comics present a critique of the establishment, while satirizing counterculture. (Source)

Look for The Freak Brothers to arrive in earest with a 22-minute pilot episode this Fall.
