This Day in Horror History: Happy Birthday Larry Fessenden

A true Renaissance man and legend of indie filmmaking, actor, producer, writer, director, film editor, and cinematographer Larry Fessenden was born on this day in 1963. He founded Glass Eye Pix in 1985 and has served as a mentor to filmmakers like Jim Mickle and Ti West.

He produced I Sell the Dead, Stake Land, The Innkeepers, The Ranger, and many others. He directed Wendigo, Beneath, and Depraved (a huge hit in 2019) among many others. As an actor, he’s shown his unique mug in flicks like Animal Factory, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, Bitter Feast, Jug Face, Vanishing on 7th Street, You’re Next, The Battery, We Are What We Are, The Dead Don’t Die, We Are Still Here, and Darlin’–among many, many others!

Trivia:
He was originally set to direct the remake of The Orphanage (2007) and wrote the script with Guillermo del Toro, but after some differences arose during casting Fessenden left the production and Mark Pellington replaced him. (Source)
