I've always been a big fan of quality foreign films and quality horror films. Putting the two together is like magic. Still, I don't think I've seen as many, especially when I look at all the unfamiliar titles in the forum.
Top 10 best foreign horror anyone? Let's say best straight up horror, and then best gore-fest movie or most disturbing. I'm more of just a straight scare flick fan, but the blood and guts can be fun too. Let's hear it... |

How recent do you want them to be???
Without categorizing:
(or order)
Martyrs
Frontière(s)
A l'intérieur
Ils
Palabras encadenadas (Killing Words)
Tokyo Gore Police
...
For some reason, I can't remember more but I am sure I could ad a lot more if I was at home... |

Audition, A Tale of Two Sisters and Evil Dead Trap (for very shallow reasons) are the only J-horror flicks I like.
The Host is a good Korean monster movie.
Funny Games and Das Experiment are good German ones.
These are all old though.
I'm not up on foriegn horror anymore except for the ones you've already seen or heard about. |

Sorry but I am going to have to correct you here: Funny Games is Austrian, not German, with languages spoken in the movie being Italian, French, and German. |

I just picked up Belphegor, le Fantome du Louvre.
Not a great movie or even really scary, but I like it.
Also, add to my list a couple very good movies from Quebec:
Evil Words
Karmina (this one's a comedy) |

yes, I'm a big fan of the look of his movies, and 1960's cinema in general _________________ conspicuously absent |

I've been thinking about Opera and The Church, lately. Opera is a watershed film, particularly the wonderful ending, which Betty sorta unlocks. It took me awhile to come to terms with the direction his films took after it, centrally his use of female characters, but I can't say it wasn't rewarding. Good to see a fellow Italian Horror fan around! _________________ Jackie Guerrido Normas el Mundo! |

A lot of people hate on The Church and films like Demons--but they're just creepy good fun, everything doesn't have to be "high art" especially if the movie in question isn't striving for anything more than entertainment value _________________ conspicuously absent |

Definitely don't be hatin' on The Church. An aural and visual tour de force, imo. . _________________ Jackie Guerrido Normas el Mundo! |
