Sony Pushes MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Off Their Schedule

One of the films I was most looking forward to was Sony’s live-action Masters of the Universe reboot. But it looks like it isn’t happening any time soon as today we got word via The Wrap that Sony pushed the film completely off their release schedule. Weak.

We’ll keep up to date on the film as it (hopefully) progresses and pass along word as we hear it. In the meantime, how excited were you about Sony’s live-action Masters of the Universe flick? Let us know in the comments below or over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram

The film was originally set to hit theaters on March 5, 2021.

Noah Centineo had been cast as He-Man in the movie which was set to be directed and co-written by Aaron and Adam Nee. It was set to follow the adventures of He-Man, a powerful warrior who defends the magical planet Eternia from the machinations of the evil wizard Skeletor.

The last Masters of the Universe live-action film came out in 1987 and was directed by Gary Goddard from a screenplay penned by David Odell. That film starred Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella, and Meg Foster. It began when the evil Skeletor (Frank Langella) finds a mysterious power called the Cosmic Key, he becomes nearly invincible. However, courageous warrior He-Man (Dolph Lundgren) locates inventor Gwildor (Billy Barty), who created the Key and has another version of it. During a battle, one of the Keys is transported to Earth, where it is found by teenagers Julie (Courteney Cox) and Kevin (Robert Duncan McNeill). Now both He-Man and Skeletor’s forces arrive on Earth searching for the potent weapon.
