LUCIFER Season 5 Will Feature Full-Blown Musical Episode

The 10th episode of Lucifer season 5 will be a full-blown musical, titled “Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam.” It seems, showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have always wanted to do a musical episode but were waiting until they came up with the right story.

Modrovich tells EW: “We wanted to have a real grounded story reason why they’re singing and dancing, and not just, ‘Oh, this is going to be the one where everybody sings and dance. It’s been a little game of Tetris [planning the episode] but it’s super fun. It’s going to be amazing. It’s going to be just such a bucket list thing for me.”

At the moment, that’s all we know about the upcoming episode.

Based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg, Lucifer follows the original fallen angel, who has become dissatisfied with his life in hell. After abandoning his throne and retiring to L.A., Lucifer indulges in his favorite things (women, wine and song) — until a murder takes place outside of his upscale nightclub. For the first time in billions of years, the murder awakens something unfamiliar in Lucifer’s soul that is eerily similar to compassion and sympathy. Lucifer is faced with another surprise when he meets an intriguing homicide detective named Chloe, who appears to possess an inherent goodness — unlike the worst of humanity, to which he is accustomed. Suddenly, Lucifer starts to wonder if there is hope for his soul.
