New PLANET OF THE APES Movie in the Works

While we were kinda hoping Alien and/or Predator would take the lead, today it looks like Planet of the Apes will be the first film put into development following Disney’s acquisition of all 20th Century Fox flicks. And it looks like director Wes Ball (Maze Runner) is the guy they’ve hired to develop and helm the new flick.

There’s currently no word from The Hollywood Reporter on whether or not this will be a fresh franchise reboot or a sequel to the latest Planet of the Apes trilogy which featured Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War for the Planet of the Apes.

We’ll let you know when we hear more.

Until then, are you up for another Planet of the Apes flick? Do you think Wes Ball is the right guy to give it to us? Let us know below or over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram

The last time we saw the series on the big screen was with director Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes. It centered on Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes who are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless colonel (Woody Harrelson).

After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.

Reeves directed the film from a screenplay co-written by Mark Bomback based on characters created by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Jaffa and Silver produced along with Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark. 20th Century Fox released it back on July 14, 2017.
