The official website for Kôji Shiraishi's Grotesque (Gurotesuku) is now online, and there's a trailer for the movie on it.

The screenplay for Grotesque was written by Shiraishi. The movie stars Tsugumi Nagasawa, Hiroaki Kawatsure, and Shigeo Ôsako.

Jolly Roger Inc. (K.K. Jorî Rojâ) is scheduled to release Grotesque theatrically in Japan on January 17th of next year.

Nagasawa - who is primarily an AV (adult video) actress - is also in Takeshi Niizato's upcoming pink film (pinku eiga) M no jubaku, which stars Ai Narita. She was previously in Yoshihiro Nishimura's Tokyo Gore Police (Tôkyô zankoku keisatsu) and Ken'ichi Fujiwara's High School Girl Rika: Zombie Hunter (Saikyô heiki joshikôsei: Rika - zonbi hantâ vs saikyô zonbi Gurorian) - the third movie in the Nihombie (Nihonbi) series.

Here's a synopsis for Grotesque from Nippon Cinema: "The film begins as a beautiful young girl named Aki (AV actress Tsugumi Nagasawa) waits for someone at a coffee shop. However, she doesn't notice that a stranger is closely observing her every move. Soon, Kazuo (Hiroaki Kawatsure) arrives and sits down with her. They share a few laughs before leaving the shop and begin walking down the street together. The person that had been staring at Aki follows them, and his footsteps gradually get closer. ¶ Kazuo and Aki later wake up in a dimly lit room, tied up and gagged, with absolutely no idea what happened to them or how they got there. A man named Tachikawa (Shigeo Ôsako) appears in front of them, and given his vast array of power tools and scary-looking instruments he definitely has some rather disturbing plans in store for the two of them. ¶ To Aki's horror, Tachikawa proceeds to stab Kazuo in the stomach with an ice pick, but he doesn't kill him just yet. Instead, he carefully tends to the wound and disinfects the area before continuing the torture. Tachikawa hacks away at his captives, slicing off and mutilating various parts of their bodies in the most obscene ways imaginable. And if by chance they happen to pass out from the pain, he simply wakes them up with smelling salts so they don't miss anything."

BTW, in my post above, I overlooked the fact that the English-language title of Saikyô heiki joshikôsei: Rika - zonbi hantâ vs saikyô zonbi Gurorian has been changed from "High School Girl Rika: Zombie Hunter" to "RIKA: The Zombie Killer".

The release date was apparently pushed back a month to September 21st. The cover art has also changed.

Having just watched the film I have to say I am amused anybody thinks this can be released in the UK. The amount of graphic sexual violence on display definitely puts the "porn" into "torture porn". If they can get this past the BBFC at all it will only be with a few minutes removed.

As expected, the UK censors at the BBFC straight up refused classification for GROTESQUE. This means the film is now effectively banned in the UK and distribution of it is illegal. Needless to say, the DVD release can be considered as cancelled.

The last film before GOTESQUE that was refused classification was the US movie MURDER SET PIECES by internet laughing stock Nick Palumbo. It also happened to other Japanese productions like the toon-porn fest LA BLUE GIRL.

The English-language title of the aforementioned M no jubaku is "The Curse M". Distribution rights for the movie are now being offered for sale by CREi Inc. (K.K. Kurei).

Here's a synopsis for The Curse M from CREi: "'The second affair invites death' ¶ Mari, wife of a hospital head, is an enigma rumored to be a devil in the cloak of a beautiful woman. ¶ When Uemura, a freelance photographer, is instantly spellbound at the alluring sight of Mari, he begins a search on her identity and unravels the truth that the men who had had affairs with this mystery woman had all fallen to mysterious deaths. Yet, Uemura too is unable to fight off the woman's voluptuous lure, and ends up spending a night with her. ¶ What Uemura does not know is that there is a hidden video camera through which Mari's husband, Ginjiro, watch the two making hard love. The unknowing Uemura goes on to bind Mari in hardcore bondage and welters in sexual depravity. ¶ What drives the couple to the pervy love made through a camera? ¶ Their perversion keeps escalating. In a whirlpool of jealousy and contempt, Mari's tragic past and her secrets with Genjiro slowly become uncloaked..."

Switchblade Pictures is scheduled to release The Curse M on DVD in the U.S. on September 11th; the DVD is available for pre-order from Amazon.com, CD Universe, and DeepDiscount.com.

Here's a synopsis for The Curse M from Switchblade Pictures: "She's tantalizing. Spellbinding. Irresistible. And yet freelance photographer Uemura fights his attraction for the beautiful Mari with all his might. For not only is she the wife of the prominent head of a prestigious hospital, but all of those who've previously had affairs with this sensual succubus seem to have expired prematurely. It's a losing battle, however, and Uemura soon finds himself pulled into the arms of the voluptuous Mari and the jaws of a trap designed to suck men dry and spit out the husks. For it seems that Mari's husband, Ginjiro, is all too aware of who's been sleeping in his wife's bed, and the sexual predation that follows will pull Uemura into a world of bondage and depravity. From the novels of the late legendary SM Master Oniroku Dan, comes a twisted tale of ties that bind until only death can part them - THE CURSE M!"

BTW, if you haven't already done so, be sure to watch the teaser trailer for Ezio Massa's horrAR (i.e., Argentine horror) movie 2/11: Day of the Dead (2/11: Día de los Muertos).
