Talisman Halted Again

It is destiny. The Talisman is just not meant to be done. Maybe it’s time we let it go.

Or am I being defeatist? The latest story in The Hollywood Reporter is just damn depressing, so I can’t help it. The book’s latest attempt to be brought to life, as a live-action, six-hour miniseries on TNT, has hit a snag due to budgetary issues.

No further embellishment was given, but this is pretty much the same thing that’s always prevented the project from being made in any of its previous incantations. The story of boy who travels across both our country and the parallel world know as The Territories in search of a talisman that will save his mother just can’t seem to be written in such a way as to make it financially feasible for pretty much anyone.

Personally, I say give it to someone like Showtime or HBO to be done on an every bigger scale, but then I don’t get to make such decisions, do I? Hopefully things will move along again soon so stay tuned!
