I loved The Rising one of my favortie books of all time.

City of the Dead wass good but man it just wasn't good enough.

Dead Sea was Mediocre at best. I don't really care much for reading fromt he first person prespective.

I'm a fan of his, but I've had a tough time getting through his last couple of books. First of all, with rare exception, I'm not a fan of first person narrative. He did manage to pull it off extremely well in Terminal, Dead Sea and The Conqueror Worms, but not so much in Dark Hollow.

The Rising was great, but City of the Dead was a disappointment because the talking zombies came off as silly. I admire that he went where he did with the ending, but it left me bummed and it seemed like he did it so he wouldn't have to write another book for the series.

Dead Sea was mindless fun. I'll be picking up Castaways in a few weeks.

Good news for ya, DSIC, Castaways is not told from a first person perspective.

Bad news; it takes a good concept and runs with it, but it is a largely forgettable book. A page turner, but nothing deeper than what is on the page. I think this may be largely due to the fact of how the story came about, which I seem to recall being in the book somewhere so I will not bother going into the details here.

i actually bought City of the Dead without realizing it was a sequel, and not being able to find The Rising anywhere. i read City and loved it. i also picked up Ghoul and Castaways and loved both, as well as Dark Hollow and Ghost Walk. i love his ability to create characters more than anything. his style is also very good, they're all fast and compelling reads.
