DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Movie Hopes to Enchant GAME NIGHT Directors

Grab your 20-sided dice and dust off your Monster Manual! There’s a Dungeons & Dragons feature film in the works at Paramount Pictures! Today brings word that the studio is hoping to enchant Game Night directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein into helming the project. That would make them Dungeon Masters, I suppose!

Deadline broke the news, also offering a brief history of previous attempts at a cinematic Dungeons & Dragons adaptation:

Like the game itself, mounting a screen version of Dungeons & Dragons has been a battle, including several years in the courts over a rights dispute. Warner Bros and New Line tried several incarnations, including one with Lego Batman helmer Chris McKay.

Dungeons & Dragons (commonly abbreviated as D&D or DnD) is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game (RPG) originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson and first published in 1974.

Obviously, this project is still in its infancy (and fraught with peril) but we’ll keep you posted as additional details emerge.
