Slightly off topic:

I've been playing the WCW/Virtual Pro Wrestling 64 games quite a bit recently and been having a ball with that great AKI fueled gameplay. This has caused me to neglect the classic NO MERCY for awhile so last night I plugged it in and decided to do a Four Way Elimination Match to determine the #1 contender for the European Championship (Currently held by Chris Jericho). I added the No Countouts stipulation because it's fun to brawl all around the arena in this game. So the matchup went like this:

Kurt Angle (me) vs. Chris Benoit vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Eddie Guerrero

Needless to say Guerrero and Hardy were eliminated in the first ten minutes of the match, leaving Benoit and I to have an insanely intense match that went in and outside of the ring. (I put him through the announcer's table at one point) I finally got the pin at 25:13 when I made him submit.

So earlier this afternoon I set aside a good chunk of time to take on Jericho in a 60 Minute Ironman match for the title at SURVIVOR SERIES. Again with No Countouts because that arena is too damn cool for words. Literally 20 minutes went by before Jericho got the first pin on me but after throwing some ring steps into the ring and suplexing him on them a few times I got my first pin as well.

We were tied 2-2 at one point when I wanted to drag Jericho to the announcer table and put him through it. The bastard reversed it and did it to me instead! This was the point in the match where it went downhill for the Olympic Gold Medalist.

The final score was Angle = 4, Jericho = 18. Weeping openly

Still, I enjoyed every minute of it because it felt like a big time match and Jericho was pulling out all the stops to make sure he kept that gold around his waist. I'll get you next time Jericho, NEXT TIME!

Also, I just discovered you can have Ironman TAG TEAM matches as well! First I'm going to get off my ass and finally unlock the Light Heavyweight Championship (TAKA Michinoku is the current champ) in a No-DQ/No Countouts Handicap Match against X-Pac and Eddie Guerrero. Love the epic matches that NM provides but man it does get a little frustrating when you get your ass kicked. Ha!

Yeah, I wish man. The likelihood of that is slim.

BTW, I just picked up playing the game after finally getting my PS2 replaced. It's still awesome.

Hey now, you never know that FPHD *might* be made available in the US via PSN/Xbox Live but I'm not counting on it.

Dude, it's a NEW FIRE PRO GAME! It's definitely something worth going out of your way for.

And apperantly, there are ways around it. You can get accounts and points for Japanese games and use them to get this, possibly. It's been laid out on FireProClub.

And holy crap, that's not all.

Yeah, what a fucking low blow for absolutely no reason. I'm done with posting on Fire Pro Club.

But hey, in the meanwhile, I've decided to kick my own fed, C.A.W., into full gear after coming back to it.

Here's the Facebook group for anyone interested.

Dear Cory Ledesma and the makers of SvsR 2010,

Fuck. You.

Love,

Spike

**********

It was only a matter of time but I'm finally making the KOC plunge (har har). A region free PS2, AR Max EVO and said game will be arriving on my doorstep in a few short weeks.

Now I can play two of best wrestling simulations ever on one console. Oh and it's an early birthday present to myself. Wink

Awesome. I wish I had the want to mod my PS2 right now, but I can live with FPW right now.

The fact that UFC turned out as well as it did really makes me wonder about Yukes' commitment to this series. There's a lot of fault on both sides as to why the SD franchise never reached to potential it could.

Oh I agree. That UFC demo blew SvsR's creaky gameplay right out of the water. Even though I'm a not big MMA fan I was really impressed with how well done it was. Of course it's all about what goes on in the octagon, no pomp and circumstance or dumbass characters here. It's a true representation of the sport.

Anyone looking for realism in the SvsR series is just fooling themselves at this point.

Update: KOC II is puro gaming nirvana. That is all.
