Head of Decapitated MUTO from GODZILLA 2014 Spotted in Latest KING OF THE MONSTERS Trailer?

You might not know it from how it’s being marketed, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters is actually a sequel to both 2014’s Godzilla and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. And while we know the Big G will face off against Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah when the new film stomps into theaters this May, there were no familiar faces the first time around, and here’s why…

For Godzilla 2014 (directed by Gareth Edwards) they didn’t own the rights to any other Toho-owned properties; thus, Legendary created their own MUTOs to pit against the menace from the depths, a couple of bat/insect hybrids, one of which was decapitated by the titular “Titan” in a most fantastic manner.

Recently, eagled-eyed horror expert Mr. H scrutinized the latest trailer for King of the Monsters, unearthing and establishing a tangible link to Godzilla 2014: The head of the previously-mentioned decapitated MUTO! Synopsis:
Members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species thought to be mere myths-rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Directed by Trick ‘r Treat and Krampus’ Michael Dougherty, who co-wrote the film with Zach Shields, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, and Zhang Ziyi.

This film has been rated PG-13 for sequences of monster action violence and destruction, and for some language. Look for Godzilla: King of the Monsters to demolish US box offices beginning May 31st.
