Sequel to 47 METERS DOWN Gets Official Name, Cast Updates, & Release Date

It looked like we were on a hot streak in terms of annual shark-themed horror movies hitting theaters every summer. First came The Shallows in 2016 followed by 47 Meters Down in 2017. Both films were well received and I can honestly say each was much better than I expected (genuinely suspenseful and scary). Then, The Meg had to come along this year and blow the hot streak to hell!

There’s a chance things may get back on track in next summer with a sequel to 47 Meters Down. Today brings news that 47 Meters Down: Uncaged will splash into US Theaters on June 28th, 2019! Johannes Roberts returns to the director’s chair, bringing along the last film’s co-scribe Ernest Riera. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged stars Nia Long, John Corbett, and Sophie Nélisse.

According to Deadline:

“The sequel 47 Meters DownUncaged is well-positioned to be a big summer event movie,” said Byron Allen, CEO of Entertainment Studios. “The shark-filled psychological horror/thriller will once again have moviegoers overwhelmed and on the edge of their seats being terrorized by the world’s greatest predators!”

All we have to show you at this point is the film’s synopsis and the announcement teaser that hit the net last August. Still, we’ll be keeping our ears to the ground in order to bring you the official trailer for 47 Meters Down: Uncaged as soon as it drops.

Synopsis:
The film will tell the story of fourteens diving in a ruined underwater city, who quickly find themselves in a watery hell as their adventure turns to horror when they learn they are not alone in the submerged caves. As they swim deeper into the claustrophobic labyrinth of caves they enter the territory of the deadliest shark species in the ocean.
