(Spoilers) This Supporting Character from HALLOWEEN 2018 Has a Huge Connection to the Original

I don’t think anyone was surprised that Allyson (played by Andi Matichak) survived Blumhouse’s Halloween, which slashed into US theaters nationwide last weekend. As Laurie Strode’s granddaughter, there was a sort of passing of the torch, seen literally when the iconic character gives Allyson a knife at the film’s conclusion.
So, while we can definitely expect more of Allyson in upcoming chapters of Halloween, there’s another supporting character that has a much bigger future in the franchise than anyone realized: Her boyfriend, Cameron Elam (played by Dylan Arnold). In a recent interview with Collider, Halloween director David Gordon Green revealed Cameron has a major connection to John Carpenter’s original Halloween, released in 1978.
“Yeah. There’s some ideas for him for later. But do you see the allusion to him and who he his? We refer to his father being Lonnie who was the young kid from the original film [played by Brent Le Page]. There’s ideas for him. There was more stuff of him and we decided to hold back and see what we could use later.”
This means that, like Allyson, Cameron most likely has a family member who was traumatized by “The Shape’s” first killing spree in 1978. This opens the door for a number of exciting avenues for exploration. We know about Laurie Strode, but how did Lonnie deal with his extreme Halloween-induced trauma, and how did the experience affect Cameron growing up? Hopefully, we’ll learn the answers in the not-too-distant future.
