Knott’s Scary Farm Announces 2018 Line-Up

Halloween is nearly upon us, as we evidenced last night at Knott’s Scary Farm’s 2018 announcement event. Held at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California on select nights from September 20 to October 31, the attraction, created in 1973, will feature in this iteration nine haunted mazes, four scare zones, four shows, and more than 1,000 monsters.
Newly unveiled for 2018 by the Knott’s creative team and presenter Jeff Tucker in the Ghoultime Theatre were the mazes “Dark Entities”, in which park goers will explore an interstellar ship whose crew has been infected by an extraterrestrial, malevolent being, and “The Depths”, an attraction set to take visitors into the bowels of the seaside caves which reside beneath fictional Nightwatch Cove, and bring them face to face with the Lovecraftian creatures which dwell within.
Returning mazes include both the abandoned and homicidal carnival “Dark Ride” and “Pumpkin Eater”, a murderous journey replete with a seven-foot-tall creature. An intriguing refresh of fan favorite “Trick or Treat: Lights Out”, in which guests will visit the Green Witch’s house in the dark, with only a faulty (meaning remotely controlled by park staff) flashlight to guide their way also returns, as does “Red Barn”, “Shadowlands”, “PARANORMAL INC.”, and “Special Ops: Infected”, all retooled for 2018.
As for the four scare zones, they are comprised of “Ghost Town Streets”, “CARNEVIL”, “The Hollow”, and “Forsaken Lake” (a trip into a submerged gothic town populated by the undead). The ride “Timber Mountain Log Ride: Halloween Hootenanny” also returns, as does the popular show “The Hanging” (this year called “Shhhh… It Happens”), which will also be joined by live shows “Awaken the Dead”, the comedy and magic show “Conjure”, and the improvisational B-movie comedy experience “Hacks! Cutting Room Floor”.
