Exclusive: THE WITCH’s Mark Korven Brings Musical Terror to OUR HOUSE

Tomorrow sees the digital release of the soundtrack to the upcoming supernatural sci-fi/horror film Our House. Composed by Mark Korven (The Witch), the brooding score elevates the tension and suspense of the film several levels with its mix of synth and classical influences, playfully teasing audiences and their expectations before slamming them with pure terror.

To give you a sense of what’s to come, we’ve got a track premiere from Korven’s soundtrack that you can hear above. Titled “Lightbulbs”, the track begins with an almost melancholic yearning, a subtle tugging of the heartstrings in its plaintive simplicity. An almost jump scare-esque slam comes out of nowhere and turns the piece into a sinister, pulsating mass, building to some unseen and frightful climax…or does it?

A machine that can bring back dead loved ones seems like a great idea…until you unleash the wrong spirits. When his parents are killed in a car accident, science wiz Ethan (Thomas Mann) must leave behind college and his girlfriend (Nicola Peltz) to care for his younger brother and sister. By day, he juggles the responsibilities of raising two kids; by night, he tinkers in the garage on an invention he hopes will change the world: a machine that can generate wireless electricity. He gets more than he bargained for, however, when the device awakens the dead souls that haunt the house. As Ethan and his siblings attempt to make contact with their parents, a horrifying realization sets in: not all the spirits in their midst may be friendly.

Our House was written by Nathan Parker and directed by Anthony Scott Burns. It stars Thomas Mann, Nicola Petz, Xavier de Guzman, Percy Hynes White, and Christine Horne. It will be released by IFC Midnight and Elevation Films on July 27.
