| I caught most of it and was surprised to find I didn't hate it. I've never been a fan of Abrams so I was expecting to loose interest quickly but found I didn't, what shocked me more was that I wasn't irked by the fact that it rips a lot from x-files. I think it'll take a few episodes thought to really sell me on if it'll be a watchable show or deteriorate into convoluted never explained plot points, thought if Abrams does go that way I hope he makes the root of all evil Felicity....no one would see that coming. |

There's a thread for this in out of genre but yeah I watched it and I'm going to watch it again on Tuesday to see if it holds up. I liked it. I agree with the good dialogue that is so important to me.
Who would have thought now I have 2 TV shows to watch. 3 when Battlestar comes back. Wow. |

Bah, I looked but never looked "out of Genre". It's sci-fi at its core, but there was definitely some strong horror elements, especially all that face melting. My apologies to all. _________________ www.horrorCon-the-movie.com

I went ahead and merged the two threads. I think it's got enough horror elements to be here in this forum. _________________ Can you feel the thirst?

Me too. Here's hoping it's better at continuing the momentum of the pilot than True Blood was! _________________ Can you feel the thirst?

I couldn't even get through the pilot of True Blood, I really hope Fringe turns out to have longevity as I haven't had a weekly show I looked forward to for a few years now. |

I didn't catch the second ep of True Blood, but I did see a part of a scene and boy is Anna trying, bless.
Fringe had some genuine laugh out loud moments that didn't compromise the tone, which is what I found so refreshing and haven't seen since the X-Files. If they go that route with some new "lab experiment" each week and they maintained the quality of the pilot, that'd suit me to the ground. _________________ www.horrorCon-the-movie.com

Not a fan of Supernatural? For my money, it's the best genre show out there these days -- along with the Sarah Connor Chronicles (but that's def. more sci-fi). _________________ Can you feel the thirst?

I tried to get into both of those and it just didn't work. |

I tried to watch the premiere of this...was really bored and got distracted the whole time. Shame. Your not alone in missing Joss. Didnt he have a new show with that Faith chick coming soon? _________________ It's times like these when I think of the words of Socrates when he said...I drank what? |

yeah it's still coming but is on hold temporarily because Joss said the scripts weren't up to his standard, so he's working on them more before filming restarts. |

Hmm, the second ep was a rather precipitous drop from the pilot, I thought. Not surprisingly, as they probably didn't spend half the budget, but they ventured solidly into X-Files territory without bringing all the much new into it and without the great team we saw with Mulder and Scully. Computers are still doing much of the work, here.
But I do appreciate the effort given by all and will hang in there. J.J. has this overriding conspiracy thing going, as well, and that's where he gives me cold feet because I've been burned by his "make it up as we go" style before. But for better or worse (I'm not really sure yet) it's very peripheral.
Still, I get the early feeling that they're going to have to work a little harder to get it out of a by-numbers CSI/X-FIles hybrid. However, I'll definitely be tuning in to see. _________________ www.horrorCon-the-movie.com

| I completely forgot this was on. I had a pretty hectic day what with a great job opportunity coming up and all. I need to set the DVR up to record it from now on. From what you said though Scotto I don't hold out much hope for the series. |
