At first listen it didn't sound like anything special but upon MANY repeat listens I now think it's their best album yet and definitely should be in the running for best metal album of the year.

No Opeth fans? I'm surprised. Yeah they were a really shitty death metal band at first but after Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree got done producing them for awhile they have turned into one of my favorites. This album is good. Trust me.

I saw Opeth live twice in 2003. And I just don't get it.
Half the song is death metal/cookie monster vocals, the other half is sung in a melodic sing song voice. What the fuck?
And every song sounded the same to me.
I don't own any of the records, but my friends said that they were so awesome that I had to go.
I just don't dig their music.

I didn't like them at all before until I saw them live with Porcupine Tree on tour for the last album. I don't like their earlier albums at all but the last 4 have been good to great. They're slowly getting rid of the gutteral vocal thing altogether. On this album it's 80% melodic.

Love me some Opeth. Morningrise got some spin in my home for some time.

Havn't heard the latest stuff yet but I can't imagine it's not good. Great musicians, solid song writing, Love the vocal work. I would hate if the growl dissapeared.

The best thing that is happening this year is that they are going on tour with the allmighty CYNIC in support of Cynic's NEW album.

What a fucking show that would be!!! I would kill to see that!

I'm one of those who don't get Opeth, but I don't flat-out hate their music either. I respect what they're trying to do, but I don't think they're good at it.

I think Opeth is probably the most consistent band in metal right now. The band's two best albums for me are Still Life and Blackwater Park.

The new one is very good, much more in line with prog rock albums from the 70s than anything else the band has done. I love 70's prog rock, so I'm more than happy with that. I'd like to see the next album be a bit more heavy, though.

I really dig Watershed. I've seen them twice, once headlining and once opening for Megadeth (Gigantour). I need to see them again now that this one's out.

Guess I've seen Opeth around four or five times... First time was went Martin Lopez got sick and Gene Hoglan subbed for him on drums. AWESOME.

Watershed is quite a bit stronger than Ghost Reveries, probably due to things like blastbeats being introduced. The cover of Alice In Chains' "Would?" is really fucking cool...

Overall, Opeth got me into Porcupine Tree... and I LOVE PT.

They fully admit they played Death Metal because they weren't very good musicians but working with Steven Wilson they've really found themselves and have become pretty damn good musicians in the process. They're an awesome live band.

I like Opeth...but this album was a bit of a let-down.

I suspect their best years are behind them.

Deliverance is my fav.

I like Opeth and think this is a great album.

But I've heard they're rubbish live. A bit too shoe-gazey for a heavy band.
