The second annual Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival has announced its film selections and schedule. In all, 48 films will screen at the five-day festival, which runs from Wednesday, October 26th through Sunday, October 30th at the Screening Room Cinema Cafe in Amherst, New York.

From the Press Release:
The festival will host a 30th anniversary screening of the slasher classic The Burning, which was filmed in North Tonawanda. Other non-competition, showcase features include Street Trash, The Definitive Document of the Dead, and Swirlee, all hosted by special guest Roy Frumkes; the stoner comedy Trippin’, which will be introduced by Alternative Cinema’s Paige Davis; and the world premiere of the zombie anthology Decayed, written and directed by Emil J. Novak, who co-founded Buffalo Screams with author and filmmaker Gregory Lamberson (Slime City Massacre, “The Jake Helman Files”).

Features competing for awards include Absentia, which just won the top prize at Shriekfest in Los Angeles; the cannibals vs. giant monster movie The Millennium Bug; the depraved psycho drama The Super; the science fiction themed The Black Box; the post-apocalyptic thriller The Collapsed; the motorcycle thriller Rage; and Die Farbe, a German adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s story “The Color Out of Space.”

“We’re showing some truly stunning films with a great deal of diversity,” says Lamberson. “Independent cinema is where the best horror films can be found today, and we’re really proud of our program and the filmmakers who are represented; anyone who attends the entire fest will definitely leave it enriched.”

Among the medium short and medium length films screening are the outrageous Mexican horror film Cosas Feas (“Nasty Stuff”); the Italian thriller Il Marito Perfetto (“The Perfect Husband”); Bart Masterondi’s interpretation of The Tell Tale Heart, starring Debbie Rochon; the highly anticipated An Evening with My Comatose Mother by Jonathan Martin; the Middle Eastern Envy of the Dead; and Stuart Simpson’s Acid Spiders, which will open the fest.

A number of Buffalo area productions will screen, including Something After Midnight by Sam Qualiana, who helmed the upcoming creature feature Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast after winning last year’s “Filmmaker to Watch” award; Lost in Falsity by newcomer Daniel James; Gagsters: The Movie by Aleksander Ivicic; Off Campus, a comedy by X-Strike Studios; Black Guy on a Rampage by Adam R. Steigert; and The Final Night and Day, co-directed by Steigert and Stephanie Andrews.

Additional guests include actress and filmmaker Melantha Blackthorne; Special Make-up Effects artist Rod Durick (Filming the Undead: How to Make Your Own Zombie Movie); and artist Tony Mauro, who has created numerous Hollywood movie posters. The festival concludes with an awards dinner on Sunday, October 30th.
