On the fence about watching FX’s upcoming “American Horror Story”? We have a feeling the show’s seriously creepy opening credits sequence might make up your mind for you. Read on for details of how you can watch the clip created by Kyle Cooper and his company, Prologue, who are also responsible for the acclaimed openers for Seven and “The Walking Dead”.

The sequence is set in the basement of the house that is the primary setting of the series. It not only announces the actors and creators but also provides a backstory for the house. “The title sequence is almost like a mystery,” says “American Horror Story” co-creator Ryan Murphy. “By the time you see the ninth episode of this season, every image in that title sequence will be explained. So for example: What are the jars in the basement? What is the mystery of the floating white Christening dress? Why is somebody holding hedge clippers that are bloody? Each time you watch it and you watch the week’s episode you’ll be able to say, ‘Oh that’s why that’s in there!’

The music is an original song called “American Horror Story” and was created by sound designer Cesar Davila-Irizarry and musician Charlie Clouser, formerly of Nine Inch Nails. It, too, incorporates the house, specifically the ambient noises like dripping water.

“American Horror Story” is set to premiere on October 5th on FX and will run Wednesdays at 10 PM ET/PT. In the meantime visit the show’s Facebook page along with “American Horror Story” on FX, where you’ll find some exclusive extras you won’t see anywhere else!

“American Horror Story”, co-created by former “Nip/Tuck” executive producers and current “Glee” co-creators/executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, revolves around The Harmons, a family of three who move from Boston to Los Angeles as a means to reconcile past anguish. The all star cast features Dylan McDermott (“The Practice”) as “Ben Harmon,” a psychiatrist; Connie Britton (“Friday Night Lights”) as “Vivien Harmon,” Ben’s wife; Taissa Farmiga as “Violet,” the Harmons’ teenage daughter; Jessica Lange (Tootsie, Blue Sky, Grey Gardens) in her first-ever regular series TV role as “Constance,” the Harmons’ neighbor; Evan Peters (“One Tree Hill”) plays “Tate Langdon,” one of Ben’s patients; and Denis O’Hare (“The Good Wife”) as “Larry Harvey.” Guest stars for the series include Frances Conroy (“Six Feet Under”) as the Harmons’ housekeeper; Alexandra Breckenridge (Dirt) as the Harmons’ housekeeper; Jamie Brewer as Constance’s daughter; Zachary Quinto; Teddy Sears; Morris Chestnut; Eric Stonestreet; and Sarah Paulson.
