Thats what we don't know, we've never seen Jacob, he's sent a liason in the form of Christian, he seems to be a kind of protector spirit of the island but something is wrong and he needs Lockes help.
Basically we know nothing of him except he has powers, is invisible (?) and uses a dead man as his 'voice'. |

Ok ok, I'll go stea...I mean buy Season 1 and 2
But heck I'm staying here dammit, I enjoy reading other people's theories of what could be happening. Got one more question, I am the only one that thinks that Richard is somewhat equal or even higher ranking than Ben, there's just something about him.... _________________ I met him, fifteen years ago. | In the hierarchy of the Others (That we know so far) he is described as being basically the one that chooses leaders and makes sure they don't do anything stupid with their power, so yes he is more important than Ben in the grand scheme of things for the Others. |

I think Richard is more in tune with the Island and has a more direct connection to Jacob. Richard's life on the island goes back further than Ben's as seen in a couple flashbacks now (notably Ben's and Locke's). However, Ben is still the designated leader. There had been hints of conflict between Richard and Ben briefly seen when Richard admits to Locke the current disatisfaction with Ben's leadership last season. I am certain there is much more to the character and eventually we'll get to it.
I had read before that the actor who plays Richard Alpert had other commitments and therefore was not available for a lot of filming this past season. Maybe that is why his character still remains one of the bigger mysteries. _________________ Open your textbooks to the chapter concerning your death. |

Haven't posted in this thread for awhile, I finish Season 1, and about halfway through Season 2. So far my questions have been answered, and I just can't wait for Season 5 to begin.
And I'll agree with Buz, I think Michael will be a spirit guide in this season. I hope Walt comes back too. _________________ I met him, fifteen years ago. I was told there was nothing left. I just found out Season Five won't start until January and am now very very depressed. I guess it gives me time to rewatch the entire series again... maybe I'll try to do it in one long cocaine binge sitting, why the hell not _________________ mods, kindly delete my account |

I'm not complaining because now I know I could schedule my college classes so that way I won't miss out this Season like I did with Season 4.
P.S. Finished Season 2, and catching up with episodes I miss from Season 3. I can't believe I almost missed out on this show. _________________ I met him, fifteen years ago.
