It’s been awhile since news broke that Snakes on a Plane director David Ellis was planning a wild horror movie about an egg-shaped half-alien hunter of hillbillies. It now appears that instead of theaters, Humpty Dumpty will be coming to a comic book store near you this fall. There are still comic book stores?

The official website for the Humpty Dumpty movie that may still become a reality eventually has announced that IDW Publishing will bring us the Humpty Dumpty comic book sometime this October. You’ll also find sample pages of the 88-page graphic novel and a 60-second preview dual hyping both the graphic novel and future feature film of this I Spit on Your Grave meets Xtro sci-fi horror, both written by Billy Majestic.

Humpty Dumpty is a horrifyingly original new take on an old familiar character. Two backwoods redneck brothers are confronted with a dangerous egg-shaped creature whose mother they torture and kill for fun. Half-human, half-alien, Humpty Dumpty exacts his bloody, murderous rage on the brothers in an unforgettable story of revenge.

I’m assuming one of the reasons for the graphic novel is to help further convince producers to get behind the Shark Night 3D director’s planned feature film since we are at a point now where movie studios seem skittish about anything based off unproven original source material. If the comic book doesn’t work, they can always try getting Hasbro to make a Humpty Dumpty board game because that will almost certainly get a major studio to pump at least $100 million into a movie version.
