I just picked up the first three books of the "Southern Vampire/Sookie Stackhouse Series", Dead Until Dark, Living Dead In Dallas, and Club Dead. Throughout the years, I'd heard alot of praise for these novels and a former co-worker of mine who works at Barnes & Noble now (where I procured these) highly recommended the series.
I'm on page 94 of the first one and wow...what great characterizations and flavor! I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Read all of them except the newest one. This is a very good series. I have turned several friends on to them.

That's kind of funny. I sold the whole series to a lady today. Kim Harrison's stuff, too.
