So which books/comics/etc do you think would make for great film?

Are there any movies out there that were based on books that completely failed and should be tried again?

I was kind of thinking an update to "In Cold Blood" would be cool. Also a really well done Poe Anthology type deal would be pretty sweet. Thoughts?

Books to film -

Coven - Ed Lee
Saurian - William Schoell
Midnight's Lair - Richard Laymon

As far as previous adaptations that should be done again -

Incubus - Ray Russell

Anyone who's never read the book is highly encouraged to do so - much, much better than the piss-poor film adaptation.

To The Devil A Daughter - Dennis Wheatley

Another adaptation that's an insult to the book.

I wish they would try Vampire$ by John Steakley again. Carpenter's was OK, but the book is just so great IMO.

Anything by Jack Ketchum lends itself perfectly for movie adaptation. All his books could be filmed on fairly modest budgets because they are all set in the real world and deal with real life horrors. OFF SEASON is the one I'm most interested in seeing getting made but it's also the one that I'm most worried about being ruined.

Laymon's AFTER MIDNIGHT could make for a spectacularily sleazy thriller and is another film that wouldn't require tens of millions to make.

I just want to see Sly Stallone's Edgar Allan Poe movie be realized. That's all.

It's his dream project. He talks about it every chance he gets when he does those Q&A's over at aintitcool. I don't know if he'd be in it, at all, but he definitely wants to write and direct.
