Friday night we went out with some friends to the Jinx to see a friend of a friend's band play. They were decent, but the band they were opening for was a total fucking blast. And not only were they two tons of fun, but they sounded good too.

They're Atlanta based, so they only play in the Southeast for now... but if you're down here, and you hear about 'em... check 'em out. It's sort of geek rock/punk (although on their Myspace page it says comedy/punk/rock, which I guess works too).

(And no, I don't have any affiliation what-so-ever with the band. Just a new fan, thought I'd spread the word.)

Geeky punk rock? Isn't that like a contradiction in terms? Confused

(unless, of course, it's geek as in "guy who eats live chickens for a living" not geek as in "computer geek")

No, not really.... it's a punk/rock SOUND. It's the lyrics that are kind of geeky... or actually, the lyrics are really funny... it's the TOPICS that are kind of geeky. Their song titles are stuff like 'She Made My Heart Walk the Plank', 'Momma, Get A Mammogram', and 'They Shoot Hipsters, Don't They?'

That sounds a lot like something I'd dig, like if Slough Feg ramped up their humour to Type O Negative or Skyclad levels. They Shoot Hipsters, Don't They? would make a nice title for a 21st century metal anthem. Twisted Evil
