Word has come down via Screen Daily that the Japanese team behind last year’s very successful horror/crime movie Nightmare Detective (review) (which is terrifyingly in the hands of the Weinsteins for US release) have plans in place for at least two more movies for the manteu-wearing sleuth who can enter people’s dreams.
Though specific details weren’t handed out, director Shinya Tsukamoto and star Ryuhei Matsuda were on hand to answer questions and confirmed that the first sequel will concern a high school girl who seeks out the detective for help.
Considering the original is one of our own Andrew Kasch’s favorites, you can be sure we’ll be keeping a very close eye on the sequels, the first of which is set to go into production next week for a release next year. Be sure to visit the official Nightmare Detective site for more info!
