Venom Movie to Be R-Rated Horror Film

Thanks to the success of films like Deadpool and most recently Logan, R-rated superhero flicks aren’t just written off as longshots in terms of bringing in big box office returns. The next hero stepping up to the red-band plate is Spider-Man‘s archenemy Venom.
According to My Entertainment World, Venom is shooting to be an R-rated action/horror/sci-fi flick that’s going before cameras this coming fall.
Collider confirms this news, stating that Venom has a confirmed release date of October 5, 2018. Scripted by Dante Harper (Alien: Covenant) and produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, Sony is developing Venom not only as the film to launch their own Marvel Universe but as an R-rated effort.
So we’re on the precipice of having three different MCU’s: one from Disney, the other from Fox, and now Sony.
