Warners Delves Into Skulduggery

Skullduggery Pleasant by Derek LandyThough it does sound primarily like a kids series, Skulduggery Pleasant is just too odd a series title to overlook just because it might not appeal to the hardest of the hardcore fan.

Variety announced today that Warner Bros. has snapped up the film rights to the upcoming series of books which are being published by Harper Collins. The story follows a wisecracking skeleton detective who, along with a young female accomplice, attempt to prevent the return of the evil Faceless Ones. Why is he a skeleton? Why do these evil guys have no faces? Why would a lovely young girl want to help?

For answers to those questions and more you can either click here to get the first Skulduggery book via Evilshop, or wait for the film version, which is being penned by the author, who also wrote Boy Eats Girl (review) and Dead Bodies. Hopefully the series will be well-received enough to justify Warners planning so far ahead.
