Okay now we can talk spoilers.
I made a list of people going in of people I DID not want to be killed. The twins, Lupin, Hagrid, Neville, and Ginny.
I thought for sure that Lupin and Hagrid were most likely to get it, so dealing with Lupins death was easier I suppose. But Fred....
That killed me.
And Snape I think has to be one of the biggest tragic heros ever. _________________ Insert that one line from that one movie from that one actor here. |

I did a little "I was soooooo right" dance to my friend Tina today. I knew that Snape had been in love with Lily. I knew that was the whole reason behind Snape doing what he did.
I was NOT prepared for Fred or for Lupin and Tonks. I bawled. especially seeing as Tonks just had little Teddy!!
I was prepared for Hagrid dying, but I'm so pleased he didn't.
And the deal with Harry being a horcrux... another "I was soooooo right" dance in front of Tina today.
the whole Grey Lady being Helena Ravenclaw and being lovers with the Bloody Baron was a bit out of left field. |

a favorite part of mine...
when the war had begun and Herminone and Ron finally kiss. Harry was like is this the time for this sort of thing? |

I actually thought Hagrid died when the spiders got to him, and that got me bawling. Then he showed up again and I was SO relieved. But I DID NOT expect Lupin or Fred to die! It was awful... gah.
I still think Hedwig's death was the most pointless of them all. I was just like, what the heck? when it happened. |

I don't think Amycus and Alecto died, I think they were just Stunned and bound.
Bah, the deaths of Dobby, Lupin, Tonks, an Fred are too sad... |

Fred was the absolute worst.
Which brings me to my only problem with the book:
WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THE OTHER CHARACTERS?!
That epilogue was shit. Yeah it was nice seeing that Harry and Ginny got together and had a bunch of kids (though its sad that Ginny had no say in naming them..where was little Fred Severus Potter?)
What about Hagrid? Who was the new Headmaster? The Weaslys?! Did Percy become Minister? The Dursleys?! I thought Rowling was going to let us know what happened to everyone. All we found out was about Ron, Herm, Ginny, Harry, Draco, and Neville.
That's the only thing that really bummed me out. I really want to know how everyones' life turned out.
I did love Harry's words to his son though about Slytherin and what not. Quite heartbreaking indeed. _________________ Insert that one line from that one movie from that one actor here. |

He tells one of his kids to have lunch with Hagrid, so he is obviously still at Hogwarts in some fashion. Percy was at the station giving lectures on broom safety. But ditto on the Ginny having no say in the naming. Ron did not seem to have much either. I thought that the nod from Draco was just spectacular.
What I thought would happen that did not. I was so sure that at least one of the Dursleys' escorts was a fake and they would be held hostage. Ron was a spy. He disappears, then comes back at such an odd moment and can suddenly speak Parselmouth?!? For seriously?! Ginny dying. Not saying I wanted it, but damn would that have been emotional.
Okay, Fred's death surprised me a bit (not as much as Percy showing up to help...) but what about Hedwig? How out of the blue was that! If I had to guess 50 characters from the series to die, I would have breezed through and not even given her a thought. At that point I knew the gloves were off. But the end of the wedding STILL caught me completely off guard and had my jaw dropped.
Tonks and Lupin individually would not have surprised me, but both did. And Colin. Between him, Hedwig and Dobby it was like Rowling was gunning for the innocents. Small miracle Luna made it out alive.
I loved Neville getting to kill Nagini. I so did not see it coming even though it was more or less spelled out that it would happen a couple chapters earlier.
Awesome book. Seriously, my new favourite of the series. |

I heard that bit on Percy, but what does that mean? He's in the station just giving lectures on brooms? Wtf?
And I missed the Hagrid line. But good to know they had something in there. What about the other characters. I would really like to know what happened with George. Poor George, no ear, and no twin. _________________ Insert that one line from that one movie from that one actor here. |

That's what I've been thinking... he lost his twin. How sad. And what about their company, and all of that?
But I also really, really want to know who the Headmaster at Hogarts is! The epiloque was nice, but a little too cutesy and I would've liked to know a lot more about other characters, what happened with them, etc. |

And honestly, Albus Severus Potter is the most cluttered name I've ever heard. Though it is a kind nod to both Snape and Dumbledore.
Oh and I'm with you Rob, that nod from Draco was brilliant. _________________ Insert that one line from that one movie from that one actor here. |

| It was weird. When George lost his ear, I was thinking "now people will be able to tell them apart." Then... |

Yeah...
I love that Neville ended up teaching Herbology at Hogwarts. In the last book I ended up liking a lot of characters I really didn't before, like Luna, Neville and Fleur. But I still dislike Percy a lot. |

I thought Percy's redemption was well done.
The Weasley's have always been some of my favorite characters. Fred being killed was just so out of the blue and unexpected that it hit me hard. Loved Mrs. Weasley's ALIENS moment. That was AWESOME.
I think Rowling needs to write a small epilogue for the rest of the minor cast members.
Oh and since Neville is being brought up, he's a fucking bad ass. I love Neville more than any other member at Hogwarts. That kid fucking rules. _________________ Insert that one line from that one movie from that one actor here. |

OK......a few of my predictions were right:
-Snape was in love with Lily (I felt this one was rather obvious).
-Dumbledore's death was planned between himself and Snape.
-Harry was a Horcrux and would have to sacrafice himself in order to defeat the Dark Lord (imagine my happiness when this prediction didn't go exactly the way I thought!!!
The way the brilliant "Hogwarts Battle" was staged, I figured that every and anyone's lives was up for grabs. As much as I was sad that Tonks, Mad-Eye, Fred and Lupin had passed on, I am SO glad that Hermione and Ron didn't die. My heart was racing throughout the entire book wondering if or when it was gonna happen.
Funny, the two deaths that hit me the hardest were Hedwig's and Dobby's.
....and literally, the WORST part for me? The part where Harry took out the golden snitch, put it to his mouth and said "I am going to die". My friggin hands were SHAKING!!! |
