That reminds me of some Facebook group I'm in... "No, I can't hang out with you on July 21st. HOW DARE YOU ASK?"
And yeah, I'll be needing a box of tissues as well, I'm sure. |

| I already know who dies. I could totally ruin all your day with 3 words, 14 little letters. |

I went to the Harry Potter party at the bookstore last night... it was PACKED. People from 2 to 60, literally. Got the book and was out of there by 12:10.
I'm already done. Review forthcoming. _________________ "I will show you fear in a handful of dust." - T.S. Eliot

I will wait a little while before discussing any spoiler related material, but wow. I mean, WOW... |

It really was... I thought I'd be pretty sad finishing it, but it was more than I could have hoped for, and I'm just... wow. It is odd thinking that there won't be anymore Harry Potter, no more waiting around for a year or so for the next book, though... but it's definitely my new favorite. |

Absolutely amazing. I have not been on the internet save for one myspace trip since getting the book friday night.
Easily the best of the series, fast paced, and incredibly emotional.
Now only has JK Rowling created a magnificent world with amazing characters, created deep metaphorical lessons, and jerked more tears out of me than any other work of fiction...
She's also managed to get an entire generation plus to get back into reading. As Horror Chic already stated, I too saw hundred of different people at Barns and Noble from all ages, and all excited to read a a 757 page book.
I do believe now I may be starting all over again.
By the way when do we get to start with the spoilers? _________________ Insert that one line from that one movie from that one actor here. |

| In its first 24 hours on sale, Scholastic has announced that Deathly Hallows has sold 8.3 million copies in the United States. Half-Blood Prince had sold 6.9 million copies in its first day on sale back on July 16th, 2005. |

I picked up my copy Saturday morning. I laughed at the line of people who preordered it cos they had to stand in line and I didn't. I started reading at 11AM. I had to stop a few times for pee breaks, take my mom's dog out, sex, dinner at our fave Mexican place. I finished it at 1AM.
I think I cried all through chapter 34.
Emma kept coming in to ask me about the death toll.
Yesterday morning at belly dance class my girl friend was saying how she's 100 pages in. And our teacher hadn't started to read her copy yet. It was so hard not to give them spoilers!!!!
my favorite line in the whole book "GET AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!" |

My reasons for picking up the book at midnight had nothing to do with getting it earlier, it's because I kinda wanted to be part of the "madness" with everyone else. Besides, I only had to wait until about 1:15 before I got my copy. |

I'm with Sammy... the Potter party at the bookstore was tons of fun. They had face painting (most popular request - the Dark Mark), wand making (yeah I made one), trivia, and a Care of Magical Creatures class (with a little Pigwigdeon owl and an albino something or other snake), and a costume contest (my friend was a finalist in her 'Witch Trying to dress Muggle' costume, but the winner was a boy of about 6 dressed as Snape. He got the book first, and free).
You had to prebuy the book, and got a voucher, in order to get it Friday night. Everyone else had to come back the next day. It actually worked out really well, because with the voucher, and five registers open, all they did was scan the voucher and give you a book. Since there was no transacting going on, it was quick. The line was moving at quite a clip. Like I said, I got the book and was out of the store by 12:10 and I was three rows back in line. _________________ "I will show you fear in a handful of dust." - T.S. Eliot
