Killer PartyStarring Kurt Ela, Rachael Drummond, Rob Norton

Directed by Alex Drummond

Formerly named The Shower, director Alex Drummond’s pseudo-zombie/lunatic flick, Killer Party meshes movies like Shaun Of The Dead, Night Of The Living Dead…and basically a few other films that surely had the word “Dead” firmly entrenched in the title – sad thing is, this party never reaches legendary status as far as blow-out fiestas are concerned, but that still doesn’t mean that it’s not a get-together worth mentioning.

Setting its sights on a group of Hollywood pals heading out to a baby-shower, the fun-time crew quickly finds themselves in a fight for their life against the remnants of a city population that’s gone stark-raving mad from an unknown outbreak…pass the chips, please? The biggest issue with the infected is that they still manage to look like the everyday Joe, aside from the psychotic, murderous mental break they’re suffering from. Nick (Ela) and Mary (Drummond) are the two focal points here, with Mary as the soon-to-be mommy turned defender, and inside of this merry-band of survivors lays a multitude of stories to tell (affairs and unwanted pregnancies are just a couple to name). The characters are all fun to watch, they’re inept to a critical level, and just to see them try and fight their way out of this colossal cluster f**k is worth the price of admission alone. The notion that there’s more than just a crippling outbreak on the horizon here is admirably laid out…hell, there’s relationships at stake as well!

While this would appear on the level to look like a zombie flick, it is, but it isn’t – while some of the “undead” shamble and moan like so many before them, it’s somewhat of a representation of what the situation has devolved into. Toss in a rabid clown for good measure and this is a party that really shouldn’t be skipped over. Goofiness and gore has its time and place, and for some amazingly odd reason, it all manages to fit under one scope for this movie, and it’s fun to take in. Overall, if you’re looking for a fun film to jump into, and leave all serious expectations behind, then RSVP to this bash, and hope that you’re able to make it out alive.
