Tim Burton's Frankenweenie Bumped to 2012One of the busiest men in the business today is without question Tim Burton. The guy has his hands in seemingly everything lately and the news has come down today that one of his projects is being met with a bit of a delay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog Frankenweenie, which had initially been aiming for a 2011 release, will instead be opening on March 9th, 2012 so at least we’ll see it before the world ends that December.

This new version of Burton’s classic tale will be made using stop-motion animation and be shot in Disney Digital 3D.

Unfamiliar with Frankenweenie? The 1984 short is one of Tim Burton’s earliest flicks and, as you may have guessed, a parody of the 1931 film Frankenstein based on Mary Shelley’s book of the same name. The story tells of a man who brings his dog back to life after it is killed by a car.

Look for more soon, and dig on the original film below thanks to the wonder of YouTube!
