Tim Sullivan with the poster for his latestWe were one of the first sites to report that director Tim Sullivan was, indeed, working on a sequel to 2001 Maniacs during Comic Con, and now Fangoria has delivered with even more info than just “it’s coming”.

The sequel will be called 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillys and will see the murderous residents of Pleasant Valley forced to leave their natural stomping grounds and head out to L.A. for new victims. Remember, they’ve got to kill 2001 people in order for their souls to rest in peace, and they only get a few days a year to do it, so their entrepreneurial “spirit” should be an inspiration for us all.

More specifics on the sequel will be unveiled at the August 11th screening of his first film, 2001 Maniacs, which is playing the Nuart Theater in downtown LA for a special midnight engagement. The print will be a brand-new 35mm stock, and Tim will be there with cast and crew in tow to answer any and all questions after the show. If you can make it out for it, be sure to click here to get your tickets in advance.

Fango also made mention that Tim’s next movie Driftwood (expect a lot more on that from us any day now) will be premiering on MTV, of all places, before it gets a DVD release next January. Sexy! Stay tuned for more Maniacs info very soon!
