Well, Chiller isn't perfect-censorship and all that-
buttttttt-
At least they are bringing back some of the goodies of the past
like "Freddy's Nightmares". I guess this is a like it or not type of show. "No More Mr. Nice Guy" was shown on Thursday and the low budget really shows here. However, it is still an interesting premise dealing with the inevitable burning of Freddy Krueger and his rise to power in the dream world during the second half of the show. It sticks together rather nicely for a TV episode thanks to Tobe Hooper's direction. Some may not appreciate stuff like "The Mangler" but when Hooper and Englund collaborate it makes for a curious time in front of the screen. Next week is "It's a Miserable Life" about humdrum fast food jobs and hospital phobias with Lar Park Lincoln(she's still as lovable as ever today). It is certainly a blast from the past. I wonder when the Brad Pitt episode will be on or maybe that one where Lori Petty loses her head-literally.......oh what fun |

If the show had more of the same budget that Friday the 13th the series had, imagine the possibilities. I guess not many wanted to churn out the money being that they thought the whole thing would revolve around Freddy and not the lives of the kids in Springwood which it was really about. Only a handful of stories had Freddy as a character and most of them had Freddy introducing the tales a la Rod Serling. Ironic that they were able to get those "hot young stars" for many episodes but still used hokey sets. Another kooky thing was that Freddy's boiler lair looked more like someone's old basement in the series. It was also pretty humorous in parts, for example Fred wandering into his school reunion.
Had a nice time

Chiller airs it weekdays at 8AM and 6PM Eastern.

Unfortunately, it has not been released on DVD yet, although from what others have stated on this board and elsewhere, bootleg DVDs are usually available at various horror conventions. _________________ "I hate all sports as rabidly as a person who likes sports hates common sense." - H. L. Mencken
