| I've been listening to that Blackstar album alot, lately. Other than that, a couple Beastie albums, Stankonia (OutKast), and a few others I can't immediately name, most of my rap collection is pilfered (pirated). Meaning, a whole bunch of songs, sans the albums. |

I'm rather new to the rap genre. I've been going off recommendations from my brother and certain friends in regards to buying albums. At the moment, I own:
Run-DMC: s/t, King of Rock, Raising Hell
Dr. Dre: The Chronic
Snoop Dogg: Doggystlye
Public Enemy: It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
Common: Electric Circus, Be
Kanye West: Late Registration
Ice Cube: AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
N.W.A.: Straight Outta Compton
Lupe Fiasco: Food & Liquor
I've highly enjoyed every album so far. I think I'm going to buy Illmatic by Nas next, but I really want to hear Kanye West's the College Dropout since everyone keeps telling me it's way better than the one I have. _________________ One, two......Freddy's coming for you!!! |

I was going to make a new thread, but found this. I have more of newschool/underground taste.
Tech N9ne: Anghellic, Absolute Power, Everready, Killer, The worst, Vintage Tech,
2 tech n9ne collabos
Kutt Kallhoun(one of the cds)
Skatterman and Snug Brim(the one that got them noticed by tech, the original, this is bootlegged though)
Prozak
Ill Bill: The Hour of Reprisal
Boondox: Krimson Kreek, Punkinhead, and the Harvest
Aesop Rock:Music for earthworms(had to bootleg this one), None Shall Pass, Appleseed, Bazooka Tooth, Float, currently looking for labor days, and fast cars danger, fire and knifes
Asher Roth: Asleep in the bread aisle(sadly dissapointing)
Busta Rhymes: Back on the B.S.
Cannibal Ox: Cold Vein
Cage: Movies for the blind, Hells Winter, as well as some of his nighthawks/weatherman stuff
Goretex: The art of dying
Zion-I: Street Legends, Shifting Gears, The Takeover
Immortal Technique: Revolution 1&2
Insane Clown Posse(too much to list, I know they're bad, but they're guilty pleasures)
Twiztid(too much to list here as well)
A lot of Redman, and methodman
NWA Straight outta Compton
Dr dre Chronic
Eminem: Slim Shady, Infinite, Marshall Mathers, Encore, Curtain call, Relapse, I feel like I'm missing something here
D12: The mixtape(2008), D12 World, Devils Night, Shit on you single
And there's more. _________________ Tech N9ne K.O.D. has been playing in my head so I've been listening non-stop. Great songs, give it a try! |

other than that, I'm a big fan of Eminem Show, NWA Greatest Hits, Beastie Boys License To Ill, Swollen Members Bad Dreams, KoS Joyful Rebellion, Grand Master Flash, Snoop Last Supper, D12 Devils Night....pretty much the usual shizzz _________________ ? |

It depends, I like different things for different songs.
I like really good rhymes and lyrical content (aesthetically, not so much 'deep' meanings)...like DJ Shadow, Chuck D or Eminem. (though 'deep' meanings aren't a turn off...they just aren't an automatic 'turn on' like 2pac or something).
I like really good melodic undertones like K-OS or Panhandlers...Canadian Hip-Hop makes great use of what I am referring to here.
I like the 80's or Old Skool beats and Rhymes like Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash or Easy E.
It's really hard for me to say what I like about any genre because I will listen to one band and then another which is almost the same and like one but not the other...
I did find some online audio for Panhandler Productions...but no info on who they are, future recordings or touring or members or lyrics or releases or anything like that:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=27263
...I only got the album because I bought it off some guy in downtown Vancouver...he was panhandling, selling the CD...I think this is how they operate [hence the name] and its an awesome concept... _________________ ? |

I've heard of both aesop and tech n9ne, but haven't checked 'em out yet.
I'll see what I can do about some mp3s of Panhandlers when I get home. _________________ ? |
