I am curious about Capt. Jack showing up in the last episode of Dr. Who season 3...

Well I hope it will be better than Torchwood has been.

Apparantly now it's just easier to let people commit suicide than help them, according to the new episode.

That scene actually shocked me a bit. I didn't expect Jack to help the man kill himself. Call me soft, but I thought that scene (even though it was a bit odd) and the scene in the nursing home were very sad.

My main criticism of the show is that it's supposed to be about Capt. Jack, yet almost every week it turns into "The Gwen Show."

Which, if you remember, was my main criticism about new Doctor Who turning into "The Rose Show."

I think Russel T. Davies needs to stop trying to force us into "identifying with the normal person put in extraordinary circumstances" angles of these shows, and let us enjoy a well crafted show...with GOD FORBID main characters (The Doctor, Capt. Jack) to hold our interest.

These main characters almost feel like secondary characters in their own shows.

The finale was nice...not great, but nice. A few things happened that made me smile, and much blood was spilled.

Watched the season finale... It was pretty good, even if the giant creature (who I believe is the Beast from the Dr. Who episode The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit) came out of nowhere.

And who was the old man?

So, I guess next season's Torchwood is going to be a "Where's Jack?" season.

It didn't work on the X-Files when they lost Mulder, I doubt it will work here.

Oh, and could they have gotten any more hamfisted and blatant on how Jack wound up in the TARDIS now?

The TARDIS lands at the Torchwood hub? So queer and stupid.

Don't bother working it in in a logical plot point, but have it "happen."

Ugh.

WHAT?!! TDA could you please at least post a shot of it? I would watch a show all about the beast fanatically if there were one. IMHO a concept I totally loved. Just to jump threads in regards to what you mentioned in the DOCTOR's thread:

Is it possible that the Gals locked up the beast before the dawn of current time. I was just thinking about what you said about their potential return to the new series.

I think the Gallifreyans definitely helped to lock up the Beast - I'm leaning that the Beast was one of the "Old Ones" like the Raconoss (from The Runaway Brife) of the Great Vampires (from the Tom Baker story "The State of Decay").

It would be great if it was related to an Osirian like Sutek, but I doubt it (the simple fact that the same actor portrayed Sutek and the voice of the Beast is a coincidance).

And here's some pictures of The Beast for you:

It would have been really cool if they left all the dead people dead.

Especially Reese, Gwen's boyfriend.

I bet she really appreciated him when he was killed, and she must have been remorseful for fucking Owen all those times.

I feel that Reese should have died for good, to show Gwen the consequences of her actions.

The whole idea of bringing everyone back to life with no memory of dying is such a cheap, badly written ploy.

Very disappointing.

He will probably be Torchwood's answer to The Master:

Someone who keeps popping up to bother them when they least need it.

He wasn't bad, so I wouldn't mind that.

Ugh. I don't know if I can put myself through another season of Torchwood. It was so ham-fisted, and well, average. Nothing about it stood out. And now I know how Jack winds back up on the TARDIS ... well that was pretty much my only reason for persevering with it.

It was just an awkwardly produced show.

But the British public loved it...so it is picked up for another season.
