Picturehouse in The Orphange

Picturehouse in The Orphanage (click to see it bigger!)Now that Picturehouse, the first venture between HBO and New Line Cinema, have proven itself to be a success with the slow but steady release of Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, how do they follow up? More Spanish thrillers, of course, and we’re fine with that!

The Orphanage is their latest acquisition according to The Hollywood Reporter, the story of a woman who fulfills her life-long dream of buying her childhood orphanage with the hopes of restoring it to its former glory. Once there, however, the imaginary games her son plays start to take a turn for the terrifying, and she begins to wonder if the building is as wonderful as she had hoped.

The film was directed by first-time helmer J. A. Bayona and produced by del Toro himself, who said Bayona has “captured some very moody and terrifying footage that just blew me away” when discussing the film. Now we just have to wait and see how Picturehouse does with this release, though if the film is anywhere near as good as Labyrinth, I can’t see them having much of a problem.
