Capt. Jack is not the son of Dr. Who.

The rumor that you all may refferring to is that the BBC have kicked around the idea that AFTER the Doctor reaches his last regeneration, there was an idea that it could be revealed that the Doctor had a son, so the TV show would continue through him...

Bad idea anyways...it's NOT Doctor Who then...

but it was purely a marketing idea that has not become fact.

I never heard that rumor. Like I said I'm a dummy but what if Jack is actually grown from the DOCTOR's DNA? A clonish regeneration?

I think that maybe he got a little Timelord in him when Rose brought him back to life, but I could be wrong.

Heck, there could be two Captain Jack's running around out there for all we know.

If there were and they met I think they'd fall in love. 'Cause I don't think anyone loves the 'ol Captin' as much as he does himself.

Jack actually is a human from the 1940's. Whatever has happened to him since he was taken out of time and became a time agant...he still is American and human.

I agree with you. I think it was the BEST Torchwood episode so far.

It was actually really touching and sad.

This is one time that I didn't mid that it was "The Gwen Show."

I appreciate good drama, I'm not ALWAYS a heartless troll. Laughing

But I really liked it, I thought it was very emotional, and Gwen was very caring - not her usual hamfisted, heavy handed, preachy "I care, I'm going to do what I want to...oops, I'm in trouble, help me."

It was a great story and to be honest it had the potential to go to the "Love & Monsters" Dr. Who episode route, which I hated.

This was a stand out, sensitive, emotional episode. Best of the season, so far.

TDA what about LandM did you dislike? The sillyness of the villian? I kinda dug the ability of the writer to if not develop the characters at least made them understandable and sympathetic in their brief screen time. I kinda thought the humor of the ep was a bit heavy but coming after the last eps I could understand it. Sorry for mentioning this in the Torchwood thead.

I thought Love & Monsters tried waaaay too hard. Besides being a ripoff of The X-Files episode "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" I thouht the whole "see the Doctor through the eyes of a regular person" was a decent idea - but they pulled it off badly.

I thought the monster, besides being the idea of a Blue Peter contest winner, was poorly done. Other than looking like crap, and the gimmick casting of UK comedian Peter Kay in the role, it was just...bad.

Other villians work best when they are played straight - a serious menace. That bad guy was "quirky" and it was just forced down the viewer's throats.

You can just tell that was the episode that the production team figured the audience would find "campy and inventive."

Call me old fashioned, but I believe the threat of a Dr. Who villian ONLY works when it is played serious - if the Doctor doesn't see it as a threat, then why should the audience?

And the supporting cast was just annoying, it was too quirky and silly. Doctor WHo should not be silly - it is not a comedy - but sly humor DOES work when used right. This was the equilivent of "pratfalls and slapstick" done by a less than competant acting team.

Not to mention that The Doctor and Rose were possibly at their most unlikable and smug in that episode.

I wasn't a fan of that episode at all.

Well I hope it will be better than Torchwood has been.

Apparantly now it's just easier to let people commit suicide than help them, according to the new episode.
