Fox Atomic division chief Peter Rice has dropped the bomb on Revenge of the Nerds. Production on the film has ceased, and all concerned have been compensated for two weeks of shooting, and let go. The project first got into trouble when the administration at Emory University in Atlanta withdrew permission for the film company to work on the campus, deciding that the project was not to their taste after all. The death blow came, apparently, when Rice decided that dailies didn’t reflect his vision of the project, that it was too small a scale for the kind of films he’s intending to release under the Fox Atomic banner. First Timer Kyle Newman was directing the picture, with Katie Cassidy, Dan Byrd and Jenna Dewan in the cast. Now, all have a lot more time on their schedules for the first of the year.

Obviously, this doesnt mean the film won't happen at all. But it's good to know that for a while, hopefully a LONG while, this remake will not happen. _________________ ----------

That really really blows the director. I hope he can take something from the experience and get hired again for something else. _________________ Insert that one line from that one movie from that one actor here. |

It does suck for the guy, but at least there's no remake...yet. _________________ Damn! |

| I feel bad for the people who put their time and energies into this project, but I feel it was an illfated project to begin with. Did we really need a remake of Revenge of the Nerds? |

Now, hopefully this happens to the Summer School remake they were talking about, as well. _________________ Kate, Honey, I may be a bastard, but I'm not a fucking bastard.

Revenge of the Nerds should NEVER be remade. No one could replace Louis and Gilbert. God, could you imagine Lamarr? With today's PCness, there's no way they could do it.
But, I could see Andrew Bryniarski (sp) as Ogre. |
