As they did with the first two Death Note live action films, Viz Pictures, an affiliate of VIZ Media, LLC, that focuses on Japanese live-action film distribution, has announced that it will team with NCM Fathom to present Death Note: L, Change the World in a limited two-night, multi-city event on April 29th and 30th. Best of all, due to viewer demand, the subtitled version will be shown first with an English-dubbed version (in which L’s voice is played by Alessandro Juliani from the anime series) screening the following night.

Fathom’s ongoing relationship with VIZ Pictures has brought the best in live-action manga events to Fathom-networked theatres and will bring the anxiously awaited third event in the Death Note series to select theatres in April,” said Dan Diamond, vice president of Fathom

Tickets for this special event will be available online or at participating theatre box offices. For a complete list of locations, visit FathomEvents.com. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on March 23rd; however, subscribers to the Shonen Jump newsletter will be able to secure seats beginning March 20th.

Death Note: L, Change the World was inspired by the immensely popular Death Note features, which are based on the best-selling supernatural action manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, but this spin-off follows a new original storyline. It was directed by Hideo Nakata and introduces the unwritten chapter of Death Note, [which] reveals how the legendary detective “L” (Kenichi Matsuyama) spends the final 23 days of his life.

In addition, VIZ Pictures will be teaming up with MTViggy (a platform of MTV that focuses on Asian pop culture) though the upcoming Death Note events and giveaways as well as the San Francisco J-Pop Center Project opening event coming up this summer. Keep it here because VIZ promises more news about that soon!
